The Unique
Technon® / Poly Test Kit

contents of Tungsten Heavy Powder's Technon (reg. TM) / Poly test kit

Each test kit contains: Technon® PM powder, Poly (A & B), Popsicle sticks, latex gloves, mixing instructions, and a mixing impeller.

Some companies were unsuccessful in mixing a high-density compound of our Technon® with a suitable epoxy. We completed the R&D work on this project and take pleasure in presenting the TECHNON® / POLY TEST KIT. We are confident that this environmentally-safe, lead-replacement product will offer you exciting new possibilities.

The "room temperature sintered tungsten" compound is designed to replace lead wherever it is used. Technon® / Poly material offers you the opportunity to manufacture heavy components, or fill cavities with the required weight at a wide range of densities (1 - 10 g/cc), without the need for expensive injection molding tools. We can recommend a suitable and easy-to-use silicon cast mold process. These molds are easy to manufacture and are inexpensive.

The test kits are available in multiples of 1 kg. Our epoxy is high impact and 80 - 85 Shore D.

PRICE: US$89.95 per kg. (1 kg = 2.2 lbs.) Buy this item now

Technon® / Poly Test Kit Process Summary

(Work Time: 60 minutes)

Click here for printer-friendly mixing instructions.

  1. Drying the Technon®  powder is recommended for best results, but is not essential. To do so, heat the powder to 110°F (43°C) for about 1 hour and allow to cool to room temperature.
  2. Measure and pour the required amount of A and B poly components into the mixing container. The suggested ratio is 100 parts A to 20 parts B by weight. See photo below
  3. Mix by hand for about 15 seconds.
  4. Measure and add the required amount of Technon® powder to the mixing container. The suggested mixing ratio is 93.5% powder to 6.5% poly (A & B combined). See photo below
  5. Mix A and B poly components well with the Technon® powder for 5 - 10 seconds using a high shear mixer or 25 - 30 seconds by hand. See photos below
  6. Adjust the consistency by adding more powder to achieve the maximum density desired.

Notes:

  • Vacuum degassing is not required
  • Curing by elevated temperatures is not recommended
  • Drying the powder is recommended for best results, but not essential
  • Store in a cool dry location. Unopened containers have a shelf life of 6 months from date of shipment, when properly stored
  • Purge opened containers with dry nitrogen before resealing

For production quantities, we can offer a unique system that allows mixing directly in the injector container (syringe) with a suitable mixing impeller. After mixing, simply withdraw the impeller, replace it with a push rod and a piston, attach a suitable nozzle (not shown), and inject.

Eco-Friendly: All components are reusable, with minimum wasted compound and an efficient production cycle time. Several container sizes are available.
